Overall idea: buy music because you want to, not because you feel charitable for certain labels or artists. Long term the latter is not sustainable (at least not as a business (this is not about artistic value). Music was reduced to cheap plastic and a stream of bits -> Spotify is its conclusion.
There should be a place for a smart weekly program on telly covering everything from dubstep, classical, jazz, indie (is there any good indie?), c&w, folk, experimental, pop, etc etc.
Put it on BBC4, get some smart kids in (not fawning indie idiots) and let them run with it. If not - the future visual evidence of new music will be on low quality YouTube videos, and that would be a shame.
There is some truth in that. If the Tory party was totally at ease with the issues of liberty and rights and did not fear being boxed into a corner by another terrorist attack, there would be no need for Davis to resign his seat. With Labour’s dreadful showing in the polls, the Tories may be tempted to sit on their hands and simply watch the beleaguered Brown without making any big analysis.

A small scale terrorist attack (say 10-20 deaths) on London could give Brown short term relief from Labour’s hard times and give the government even more of a platform for reducing civil liberties. Cynical, but true.
Petridis have been going on for some time on men’s fashion in The Guardian and this week we saw The Times’ T2 magazine launch a style column for the younger middle aged male (with a boring little piece on watches), as well as Tim Lott trying to get smarter in The Observer. It makes sense. Men in the forties (still) have some cash to spend and would have grown up on The Face and later Arena magazine.
How long until we see the first specialist website?
